Dathika specializes in Corporate, Commercial and Intellectual Property Law and maintains a strong portfolio of clientele consisting of private equity, venture capital, growth fund and technology companies. With extensive experience and expertise in advising and supporting stakeholders across the ecosystem, he regularly advises entrepreneurs, startups, family investment offices, incubators, accelerators, angel investors and other related funds on their formation and structuring, capital raising efforts and in navigating their day-to-day legal and regulatory obligations. Over the past few years, he has handled some of the largest VC fund formations and capital raising transactions by or in respect of startups in Sri Lanka.

Having completed his LL.B at University College London in 2012 and taken oaths as an Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka in 2014, Dathika started his career at the Attorney General’s Department of Sri Lanka, where he served as a State Counsel and prosecutor. He then joined Nithya Partners (Attorneys-at-Law) as a Senior Associate in 2018 after having completed his LL.M at Columbia Law School as a Harlan Fiske Stone scholar and passing the New York Bar. He is qualified to practice both in Sri Lanka and the state of New York.
